Almaty Marathon

The Almaty Marathon is a major annual road running event held each September in Almaty, Kazakhstan and is widely regarded as the largest running competition in Central Asia. The race brings together thousands of runners from around the world to compete across a variety of distances including the traditional marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.1 km), 10 km run, 10 km Nordic walking, and a corporate Ekiden team relay, all set against a scenic urban course that traverses the heart of Almaty from Republic Square. The event is part of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and meets international course certification standards.
