HashiRun (“HashiRun,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose, and safeguard information when you access or use the HashiRun platform, including our website, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

HashiRun is designed to help runners discover races, build a Race Diary, record results, and share experiences with the broader running community. As part of providing these features, we collect and process certain personal information. We do so with transparency, purpose limitation, and respect for your privacy.

By accessing or using HashiRun, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with its terms.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us as well as information that is automatically collected when you interact with the Service. The type and amount of information collected depends on how you use HashiRun.

Account Information. When you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, date of birth, gender, and login credentials. This information is necessary to create and manage your account, authenticate you, and provide core platform functionality.

Race Diary and Participation Information. You may choose to provide additional information as part of your Race Diary, including race participation, event history, bib numbers, finish times, notes, goals, and personal achievements. This information helps personalize your experience and enables community features.

Run Tracking, Location, and Workout Information. When you choose to track a race or training run, HashiRun may collect GPS route points, approximate and precise location during the active activity, distance, elapsed time, pace, heart rate, cadence, power, steps, calories, elevation, device source, and related workout metrics. We use this information to record your activity, power live spectator maps when you enable them, generate race and training summaries, support audio updates, and help troubleshoot run tracking reliability.

Apple Health and HealthKit Information. If you grant permission, HashiRun may read selected workout and fitness data from Apple Health and may write race or training workouts back to Apple Health. Apple Health permissions are controlled by you through iOS settings and can be changed at any time.

Spectator Messages and Photos. When spectators send cheer messages, VIP spectator messages, votes, or photos, we collect that content, the sender account, timestamps, and related run context so the content can be shown on the spectator map and, where enabled by the runner, included in audio cheer summaries.

Reviews and Public Contributions. If you submit reviews, ratings, or comments related to race series or events, that content may be publicly visible to other users depending on platform settings.

Usage and Interaction Data. We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages viewed, features used, timestamps, referring URLs, and navigation patterns. This data helps us understand how the platform is used and where improvements are needed.

Technical Information. We may collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, language preferences, and approximate geographic location derived from IP address.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve HashiRun. Each use of data is tied to a legitimate business purpose aligned with providing a high-quality running platform.

Specifically, we use your information to create and manage user accounts, display race participation data, calculate statistics, and enable social and community features. Without this processing, core functionality of the platform would not be possible.

We also use information to personalize your experience, such as highlighting relevant races, organizing your Race Diary, and tailoring platform content based on your interactions.

In addition, we use aggregated and anonymized data to analyze trends, monitor platform performance, diagnose technical issues, and improve reliability, usability, and security.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use Apple Health, HealthKit, or workout health data for advertising, credit, employment, insurance, or data broker purposes. We do not share Apple Health or HealthKit data with advertising platforms.

3. Public vs. Private Information

HashiRun includes social and community-driven features. Certain information may be visible to other users by default, including your public Race Diary, race participation, reviews, and ratings.

Information such as your email address, login credentials, and sensitive account details are never displayed publicly. We do not expose private contact information to other users.

You may control some aspects of what information is shared publicly through your account settings. You are responsible for ensuring that any content you choose to share publicly aligns with your own privacy preferences.

Live Tracking and Spectator Links. Live race and training spectator links are created only when you enable spectator features or share a link. People with access to an active spectator link may be able to view your live or replayed route, progress, public profile details, and supported run metrics, subject to the privacy controls available in the Service.

Map Exclusion Areas. If you create map exclusion areas, HashiRun uses them to reduce the visibility of route segments and runner location in private areas for other viewers. Map exclusions are a privacy aid and may depend on device data, GPS accuracy, processing timing, and the viewer context.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

HashiRun does not sell personal information. We share information only in limited circumstances and only as necessary to operate the Service.

Service Providers. We may share information with trusted third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, email delivery, and infrastructure management. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.

Connected Services. If you connect HashiRun to Apple Health, Strava, or another supported third-party service, we share or receive activity data only as needed to provide the connection you authorize. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

App Store Purchases. If you purchase a subscription, race pack, or other digital feature through Apple, Apple processes the payment and provides us transaction information needed to verify entitlement, manage access, support refunds, and prevent fraud. We do not receive your full Apple payment card details.

Legal Obligations. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request.

Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to applicable data protection laws.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account remains active or as necessary to provide the Service. We may also retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

If you request deletion of your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize personal information, except where retention is required by law or legitimate business needs.

Some records may be retained in a deactivated, voided, anonymized, or restricted form where needed for security, fraud prevention, financial records, App Store transaction verification, legal compliance, audit logs, support history, or to preserve the integrity of race results and community content.

6. Data Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration.

Despite these measures, no system is completely secure. You acknowledge that transmission of information over the internet carries inherent risks, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or export data.

You may update your account information at any time through your account settings. You may also request account deletion in the app or by contacting us. Account deletion requests may remove your account from public view while certain backend records are retained only as described in the Data Retention section.

You can manage iOS permissions, including Location, Health, Motion, Bluetooth, notifications, and Face ID, through Apple device settings. Turning off some permissions may limit or disable related HashiRun features.

You may report inappropriate spectator messages, reviews, or other user content by contacting support@hashirun.com. We may remove content, restrict accounts, or take other action when content violates our policies or creates safety, privacy, abuse, or legal concerns.

If you reside in regions subject to GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations, you may have additional rights such as restricting processing or objecting to certain uses of data.

8. International Data Transfers

HashiRun operates globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including jurisdictions with different data protection laws.

We take steps to ensure that international transfers comply with applicable legal requirements and include appropriate safeguards.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When changes are made, we will update the effective date and post the revised policy on this page.

Continued use of HashiRun after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
