Bay of Fundy Marathon

The Bay of Fundy International Marathon is one of North America’s most distinctive marathon experiences, offering runners the rare opportunity to race across an international border while taking in the dramatic coastal scenery surrounding the Bay of Fundy.

The course begins at the iconic West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine, the easternmost point in the continental United States, and crosses into Campobello Island, New Brunswick, before finishing back in Lubec. With rolling terrain, rugged ocean views, picturesque fishing villages, and the world’s highest tides as a backdrop, the race has become a bucket-list event for runners seeking a scenic alternative to big-city marathons. The marathon is a certified Boston Marathon qualifier and also features a half marathon and 10K, making the event accessible to runners of varying abilities.

The event prides itself on its small-field atmosphere, typically limiting participation to several hundred runners. Rather than large crowds and urban streets, participants experience quiet coastal roads, views of the Lubec Narrows, Roosevelt Campobello International Park, and the historic Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Bridge connecting the United States and Canada.
