The Colorado Springs Marathon is one of the premier road running events in the Rocky Mountain region, offering runners the opportunity to experience the beauty of “Olympic City USA” while competing at an elevation of approximately 6,000 feet (1,830 metres). Held each autumn in downtown Colorado Springs, the event has grown into one of Colorado’s most popular destination races, selling out multiple consecutive years and attracting participants from across the United States. With race distances including the full marathon, half marathon, 5K, and Kids K, the event caters to runners of every ability while maintaining a welcoming, community-focused atmosphere.
The marathon course begins and finishes at the historic Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum and showcases many of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Runners travel along Colorado Avenue before entering America the Beautiful Park, continue through the scenic Greenway Trail and Monument Valley Park, and experience a mixture of urban streets, paved recreational paths, and tree-lined parkways. Throughout the course, participants enjoy spectacular views of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, including the iconic Pikes Peak, while running through one of America’s most active outdoor communities. Although the altitude presents an additional challenge for runners coming from lower elevations, the relatively gentle course profile and enthusiastic local support make it an excellent destination marathon for both first-time and experienced marathoners.
