Fukuoka Marathon

The Fukuoka Marathon is a long-established annual road race held in Fukuoka, Japan, and is among the country’s most historic and respected marathon competitions. Traditionally run each November, the event brings together thousands of runners for a full marathon along a course that departs from central Tenjin and finishes in scenic Itoshima, with cityscapes giving way to coastal views and nature as participants race toward personal goals and enjoy cheering crowds.

The marathon has deep roots in Japan’s running history, dating back to its early years when it became widely known as a proving ground for world-class marathon performances. Although its elite “International Marathon Championship” incarnation ran for many decades, the modern mass-participation event continues the legacy and enthusiasm for long-distance running in the region.
