Halfoogstjogging Kasterlee

The Halfoogstjogging Kasterlee is a friendly summer evening running event held in the town of Kasterlee in Belgium’s Antwerp Province. Organized in connection with Chiro Kasterlee and the annual Chirofeesten festivities, the event has developed into a local summer tradition, taking place around the period known as half oogst, or “half harvest.” The 2026 race was the event’s eighth edition and took place on Friday, August 7. The race headquarters, start and festivities are based at the Chirofeesten festival tent at Mgr. Miertsstraat 40 in Kasterlee.

Rather than being a conventional city road race, Halfoogstjogging Kasterlee combines paved and natural surfaces on a scenic 5-kilometre circuit through the countryside around Kasterlee. The route passes through wooded areas and tree-lined lanes before using short stretches of paved road to reach the banks of the Kleine Nete river, eventually returning toward the finish area. The organizer describes roughly half of the course as unpaved, while its dedicated course description estimates approximately 60% unpaved terrain. This gives the event something of a light trail or mixed-terrain character without making it a technical trail race.
