The Marathon de Cali (Maratón de Cali) is Colombia’s premier marathon and one of South America’s newest World Athletics Label road races. First held in 2025, the event was created to establish a world-class marathon in Colombia’s “Sports Capital,” bringing together elite international athletes, competitive amateurs, and recreational runners in a celebration of sport, culture, and the vibrant spirit of Santiago de Cali. From its inaugural edition, the marathon earned international recognition through its certified course and World Athletics Elite Label status, placing it among the continent’s leading road races.
The race showcases many of Cali’s most recognizable landmarks while highlighting the city’s reputation as a hub for athletics, music, and hospitality. Participants run through wide boulevards, historic neighborhoods, modern commercial districts, and tree-lined avenues before finishing in front of enthusiastic local crowds. The flat and fast course has been designed to meet World Athletics and AIMS certification standards, making it suitable for both elite competition and runners pursuing personal bests or qualifying times. The event also features a 15K race, a 4.2K recreational run, and children’s races, creating a festival atmosphere that welcomes participants of all ages and abilities.
