The Marathon Deauville (officially the Marathon International inDeauville) has rapidly established itself as one of France’s premier destination marathons, combining world-class road racing with the elegance of the Normandy coast. Held annually in the renowned seaside resort of Deauville, the event is celebrated for its picturesque course, festive atmosphere, and unique blend of sporting excellence and French coastal charm. Since its inaugural edition in 2021, the race has grown significantly, attracting thousands of runners from across France and around the world while becoming one of Normandy’s flagship running festivals.
Race weekend features a full program of events, including the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, marathon relays for teams of two and four, and children’s races, transforming Deauville into a celebration of running for athletes of every ability. The marathon itself is officially 42.195 km, carries a French Athletics Federation (FFA) National Label, and serves as a qualifying race for the French Marathon Championships.
The course showcases many of the region’s most iconic locations. After starting in Deauville, runners travel through the neighbouring communities of Tourgéville, Bénerville-sur-Mer, and Saint-Arnoult, passing elegant villas, horse racing venues, countryside roads, and stretches of Normandy coastline before returning to Deauville. The race culminates with a memorable finish along Les Planches de Deauville, the town’s famous wooden boardwalk overlooking the English Channel. Although the route includes approximately 113 metres of elevation gain, it remains relatively fast and accessible, making it attractive to both first-time marathoners and experienced runners pursuing personal bests.
