Mariko Alps Trail Run

The Mariko Alps Trail Run is a scenic and culturally distinctive trail-running event held in Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Based in the historic Mariko (丸子) district of Suruga Ward, the race combines demanding mountain trails with one of the area’s most historically significant settlements: Mariko-juku, the 20th post station on the old Tōkaidō route connecting Edo and Kyoto. The race is organized by the Mariko Alps Trail Run Executive Committee.

The event starts and finishes at the second parking area of Sumpu Takumi-shuku in Mariko, approximately seven kilometres from the Tomei Expressway’s Shizuoka interchange. Takumi-shuku itself is a major traditional-crafts facility dedicated to Shizuoka crafts including bamboo work, woodworking, lacquerware, ceramics and dyeing, giving the event a particularly strong connection to the region’s history and culture.
