Medellin Marathon

The Medellín Marathon (Maratón Medellín) is Colombia’s longest-running major road race and one of the most established marathon events in Latin America. Held each September in Medellín, Colombia, the event brings thousands of runners onto the streets of the “City of Eternal Spring” for a weekend of racing that includes a full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K.

First held in 1994, the Medellín Marathon has developed from a local road race into a major international running event attracting participants from Colombia and around the world. More than three decades after its creation, the race has become a fixture on the Colombian running calendar, combining large-scale participation with an opportunity to experience one of South America’s most distinctive cities on foot.

The headline 42.195K marathon and 21.098K half marathon are officially measured and certified under World Athletics standards. The event is also a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), while the full marathon can be used as a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon.
