Menton Sun Race

The Menton Sun Race is a two-day seaside-and-mountain running festival held in Menton, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, France, on the French Riviera near the Italian border. The event is organized by Menton Marathon / Menton Marathon Athlétisme and centres around the historic Ronde des Plages de Menton, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2026. The official site describes the race as a weekend “between sea and mountain,” with the bay of Menton, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, perched villages, the old town, and the basilica of Saint-Michel forming the scenic backdrop.

The weekend includes a wide mix of events: the Ronde des Plages 10K, Ronde des Plages 5K, 5K walk, Young Athlete kids’ races, and the Trail Roc Orméa mountain races of approximately 13K, 20K, and 46K. Saturday is dedicated mainly to trail racing, including routes climbing toward the Roc d’Orméa, while Sunday focuses on the fast coastal road races. The 10K and 5K road events are FFA Bronze-labelled and qualifying races for the French championships, making Menton Sun Race appealing both to recreational runners and serious road racers chasing certified performances.
