Nordisk Mountain Trail in Yamanashi Chuo

The Nordisk Mountain Trail in YAMANASHI CHUO is a relatively new trail-running event showcasing the mountains, satoyama countryside and rural scenery surrounding Chuo City in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. Created to combine trail running with the area’s natural and tourism resources, the event sends runners into the hills above the Kofu Basin, providing expansive views across the agricultural landscape and toward some of the major mountain ranges that define Yamanashi. The event is based at YSKe-com Silk Park in the Sekihara area of Chuo City, which serves as both the start and finish. From the park, runners head toward the trails around Mount Taira (たいら山) and the Yamanokami Senbonzakura area. The surrounding landscape is characteristic of Yamanashi’s foothills, mixing forest trails and mountain paths with rural roads and elevated viewpoints overlooking the countryside. On clear days, the route provides views toward major peaks including Yatsugatake and Kitadake, Japan’s second-highest mountain.
