Onigiri Marathon

The Onigiri Marathon is a playful new running event in Tokyo, Japan, combining an accessible waterfront race with one of Japan's most iconic foods: the humble onigiri. Debuting in 2026 at Toyosu Gururi Park in Koto City, the event is built around a simple idea, enjoy a run with friends or family, cross the finish line, and celebrate with a delicious Japanese rice ball.

Set on Tokyo's waterfront in Toyosu, the Onigiri Marathon offers runners an opportunity to experience a very different side of the Japanese capital from its huge city-centre races. The event takes place at Toyosu Gururi Park near the Toyosu Market area, where wide waterfront paths and open views create a relaxed setting away from the dense streets and skyscraper-lined courses associated with many of Tokyo's larger running events.
