Paavo Nurmi Marathon

The ⁠Paavo Nurmi Marathon is one of Finland’s classic road-running events, held in Turku, the historic coastal city that was home to legendary Finnish distance runner Paavo Nurmi. Named in honour of the nine-time Olympic champion known internationally as the “Flying Finn,” the event gives runners an opportunity to race through the same city that produced one of the most celebrated athletes in distance-running history.

The race is organized by the Athletics Division of Turun Urheiluliitto ry (Turku Athletic Association), with the Juoksuaika event office handling participant services and event administration. The official rules specifically identify Turun Urheiluliitto’s Athletics Division as the responsible organizer.
