Penang Bridge International Marathon

The Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) is one of Malaysia’s largest and most established mass-participation running events, bringing tens of thousands of runners to Penang, Malaysia for an unusual overnight race across one of the state’s defining pieces of infrastructure. The event is organized by the Penang State Tourism Development Office, with the full support of the Penang State Government and its tourism and creative-economy portfolio. Malaysia’s official tourism authority likewise identifies the Penang State Government as the organizer.

PBIM traces its history to the 1980s and has grown into an internationally recognized event attracting both Malaysian and overseas runners. The organizer describes it as the largest mass-participation sporting event in Penang and says participants have come from more than 70 countries. The event offers a full marathon (42.195 km), half marathon (21.1 km) and 10K, with categories for both open and veteran runners.
