Sanlam Cape Town Marathon

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is a premier long-distance road race held in Cape Town, South Africa. First established in its modern form in 2007, this 42.2 km marathon draws elite athletes and runners from around the world to compete on a fast, scenic course that starts and finishes near Green Point Stadium against the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. It has grown into one of Africa’s most significant running events and is a World Athletics Gold Label race and an Abbott World Marathon Majors candidate, a step toward becoming the first Major marathon on the African continent. In addition to the full marathon, the event weekend features shorter races like 5 km and 10 km runs and associated trail events, offering something for runners of all levels.
