Shenzhen Marathon

The Shenzhen Marathon is one of China’s leading big-city road races, taking tens of thousands of runners through the modern metropolis of Shenzhen, China. Held in December, the marathon showcases a city that has transformed in just a few decades from a relatively small community on the Pearl River Delta into one of Asia’s largest centres of technology, finance and innovation.

First held in 2013, the Shenzhen Marathon is a relatively young race compared with many of the world’s established city marathons, but its rapid development mirrors that of its host city. The event has grown into a major fixture on China's running calendar and holds World Athletics Gold Label status as well as Chinese Athletics Association Class A certification, reflecting the standards applied to its competition, course measurement and race organization.
