Summer Solstice 5K

The Summer Solstice 5K in Edmonton, Alberta is an evening 5K run/walk, designed around one simple but memorable idea: racing against the sunset on the longest day of the year. Part of Running Room’s national Solstice 5K series, the Edmonton edition takes place at Northeast River Valley Park, giving participants a summer-night race experience in one of Edmonton’s signature outdoor settings.

This race is intentionally different from a typical morning 5K. Instead of lining up at sunrise or mid-morning, runners gather late in the evening to celebrate the long days of summer. The event’s identity is social, seasonal, and accessible: a 5 km distance suitable for runners, walkers, beginners, families, and casual participants, but still fun for experienced runners who want a unique summer event. Participants receive a pair of HOKA Rincon 4 shoes and a finisher medal, with shoe sizing limited and early registration encouraged.
