Tokyo 30K Autumn

The Tokyo 30K Autumn (東京30K秋) is a 30-kilometre road race in Tokyo designed as both a competitive running event and a highly structured tune-up for Japan’s autumn and winter marathon season. Held at Ojima Komatsugawa Park in Koto City, Tokyo, the event gives runners an opportunity to test their endurance, pacing, fueling strategy, and race-day routine over the demanding 30K distance before tackling a full marathon.

A major feature of Tokyo 30K Autumn is its extensive pace-runner program. Rather than simply sending everyone onto the course to run independently, organizers provide pace groups corresponding to full-marathon goal times ranging from approximately 2:50 to 5:00. This makes the race particularly useful for runners preparing for a goal marathon, whether they are chasing a personal best or simply trying to learn what their intended marathon pace feels like over a sustained distance. Official timing includes 5K splits, allowing runners to review how consistently they maintained their effort throughout the race.

The course starts and finishes around Ojima Komatsugawa Park, close to Higashi-ojima Station in eastern Tokyo, and uses a flat out-and-back course. The relatively flat terrain and organized pace groups make the event well suited to controlled marathon-specific training rather than the highly tactical racing found at many shorter-distance events.
