Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon

The Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon is one of Japan’s signature half marathon experiences and a race that stands apart through both symbolism and setting. Organized by the Tokyo Marathon Foundation and held in Tokyo, Japan, the event was established to extend the legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Games by giving runners the opportunity to race on a course connected to that moment in the city’s sporting history. Starting and finishing at MUFG Stadium, better known internationally as the Japan National Stadium, the race delivers a rare big-event atmosphere from the moment runners enter the venue. The course travels through central Tokyo districts including Tomihisacho, Suidobashi, Jinbocho, Kanda, and Nihonbashi before returning to the stadium finish, creating a route that feels both urban and ceremonial rather than purely utilitarian. Because the course is certified by JAAF and World Athletics, the event also carries the kind of official credibility many runners look for when choosing a major race.
