Yokote City Marathon

The Yokote City Half Marathon is an annual road-running event held in Yokote City, Akita Prefecture, Japan, offering runners a relatively flat course that transitions from the city’s built-up centre into the open agricultural landscapes for which southern Akita is known. The event is designed to accommodate both competitive runners chasing a fast half-marathon performance and recreational participants, with a programme that includes the headline half marathon, a 10 km Challenge Run and two different 2 km events for younger runners, families and groups.

The half marathon begins in front of Yokote Gymnasium and heads from Yokote’s urban area into the surrounding countryside. One of the course’s principal attractions is its lack of significant elevation change. Organizers describe it as a broad, easy-running course surrounded by natural scenery, while RUNNET characterizes it as having very little climbing and descending. Kilometre markers are provided at every kilometre, making it particularly suitable for runners attempting to maintain a consistent pace.
