What is Marathon Relay? Marathon Relay is a race in which 4 competitors participate and they have to complete the 42,195 km race altogether. The running takes place in 4 legs: the first leg is 10km, the second 11km, the third 10km, the fourth is 11km. All participants in the relay receive a start number (without a chip), while one start number with a chip is assigned to the whole team. The start number with a chip shall be worn by the first competitor from the relay and then he/she hands it to the next competitor. The relay legs are as follows:
- Leg 1 is located at front of the secondary school Josip Broz Tito. Here, the start number ending in 1 substitutes start number ending in 2.
- Leg 2 is located on Rekord (opposite of Centar Bar). Here, the start number ending in 3 substitutes the start number ending in 2
- Leg 3 is located at front of the secondary school Josip Broz Tito. Here, the start number ending in 4 substitutes the start number ending in 3
Rules for relay leg changes
There will be referees at the leg changes points to take care of regularity. If the rules are violated or the rules are not fully observed, the team will be disqualified.
Relay runners can be of the same gender or may be mixed (male/female). The ranking of the relay teams will be divided into men's, women's and mixed teams.
Each member of the relay team gets a medal, i.e. the last one to finish gets all 4 medals for the team.
