Event Details
It is with great pleasure that we at Svalbard Turn can welcome visitors and locals to what we believe is the world's most beautiful running adventure here in Svalbard. The Spitsbergen Marathon was first organized in 1994 and has since grown to become a large and popular event.
Longyearbyen is located at 78 degrees north and summer conditions are often variable. But despite its Arctic location, the conditions are very good. The course runs on the roads in and around Longyearbyen and with its open landscape the course is described as tough. At the beginning of June it is normally above zero, the snow has melted in most places and the city has a rich wildlife where you may be lucky enough to encounter both reindeer, geese and egrets in and along the course.
