Key West Half Marathon

The Key West Half Marathon & Runfest is a destination running weekend held each January in Key West, Florida, United States, combining a flat, tropical half-marathon course with 5K, 8K and 10K races and a distinctly Key West-style schedule of post-race entertainment. The event is organized by Key West Half Marathon, LLC, which is also the entity authorized by the City of Key West to stage the races and associated street closures.

The event has become a popular winter "runcation" race, offering runners the opportunity to escape colder January weather and race at sea level through one of Florida's most recognizable island communities. The half-marathon course showcases both the historic and coastal sides of Key West, taking runners through Old Town, up Duval Street, past the Southernmost Point and alongside Smathers Beach before returning toward the waterfront finish area.

With Key West measuring only a few miles from end to end and having very little elevation, the race has a very different character from a traditional big-city half marathon. Long stretches of the route run beside the Atlantic and Gulf waters, while other sections pass the colorful historic homes, commercial streets and landmarks associated with Old Town. The result is a course that combines sightseeing with a relatively flat road-racing profile.
